Self Care Knitting: Hand Knit Washcloths

While stash diving recently I came across this gorgeous Bluesky Fibers Printed Organic Cotton (affiliate link to yarn) that I acquired a few years ago. I originally purchased it to create a spa set and never quite got around to it. This past week I also found the washcloth patterns I was working on and decided to finish them up and get them posted. Without further ado, here they are... and they're free!

Pattern 1: Eyelet Washcloth

Needle: US 9

Yarn: Blue Sky Fibers Printed Organic Cotton (affiliate link)


Cast on 46 stitches

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: Knit

Row 3 Knit

Row 4: K3, Purl to 3 stitches before the end, K3


Start Eyelet Pattern:


Row 5: k7, *yo, k2tog, k6* repeat between *s until 7 sts before the end, yo, k2tog, k5

Row 6: k3, Purl to 3 stitches before the end, k3

Row 7: k6, *yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k4* repeat between *s until 8 sts before the end, yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k4

Row 8: k3, Purl to 3 stitches before the end, k3

Row 9: k7, *yo, k2tog, k6* repeat between *s until 7 sts before the end, yo, k2tog, k5

Row 10: k3, purl to 3 stitches before the end, k3

Row 11: Knit

Row 12: k3, purl to 3 stitches before the end, k3


Repeat rows 5 - 12 five more times, for a total of six repeats.


Border Row 1: (RS): k3, purl to 3 stitches before the end, k3

Border Row 2: Knit

Bind off



Pattern 2: Ridged Washcloth

Needle: US 9

Yarn: Blue Sky Fibers Printed Organic Cotton (affiliate link)


Cast on 40 stitches

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: Knit

Row 3: *k2, p2* repeat until 4 sts before the end, k4

Row 4: *k2, p2* repeat until 4 sts before the end, k4

Row 5: k4, *p2, k2* repeat until the end of the row

Row 6: k4, *p2, k2* repeat until the end of the row

Row 7: Knit

Row 8: k2, purl to 2 stitches before the end, k2

Row 9: Knit

Row 10: k2, purl to 2 stitches before the end, k2


Repeat rows 3 - 10 five more times, for a total of six repeats.


Border Row 1: (RS): k2, purl to 3 stitches before the end, k2

Border Row 2: Knit

Bind off


And that's it! Any cotton yarn will work well for these patterns, however this organic cotton is incredibly soft and I highly recommend it. Pattern names are linked to Ravelry, please link your projects so I can see them!
